We offer downloads in three format options. If you purchase a graphic, you are free to download all three formats of that item. Each has different strengths:
• Native Adobe Illustrator files (suffix .ai). This is the download format you should choose if you plan to make edits to the file, possibly to alter the set of fonts used in the design. That’s the most common reason users prefer the ability to make edits. Files saved in .ai format will have supporting image files embedded within them, but the fonts the graphic utilizes will not be embedded. This means when you open the file in Illustrator, the program will alert you which fonts used in the graphic are not part of your local hard drive’s font set. But you can change the fonts used to ones from your system, which might better suit your visual style. GraphFixLab uses Illustrator version 16.0.0 (the Creative Suite 6 version). These downloads will open in the CMYK color format.
• EPS-saved versions of the files (suffix .eps). This remains an editable format, but also embeds the fonts used in the design. It also increases the memory file size of each file. And eps files can be opened in programs other than native Adobe Illustrator. These downloads will open in the CMYK color format.
• JPEG-saved versions of the files (suffix .jpg). These are conversions of the graphics into pixelated “pictures” of the files. As such, they are not easily editable in any way. However, their file size is much smaller, and the downloads are faster. Fonts are no longer an issue, because the text is no longer editable in a jpeg. This format can be easily placed in a variety of presentation platforms, and within limits, can be resized using Photoshop or another pixel image editing program. These downloads will open in the RGB color format.
