At about 2:50 p.m. local time on Nov. 26, a fire broke out at Wang Fuk Court in the Tai Po District of the New Territories, Hong Kong, China. Authorities say at least 128 people are dead, 79 injured, with 150 missing. Flames ignited in external bamboo scaffolding and quickly spread until 7 of the 8 buildings in the complex were burning. These are subsidized, 31-story tall residential towers, home to 4,643 residents.
