Description
Early on Saturday morning, Jan. 3 (ET), the U.S. struck Venezuela with a large-scale attack, and Donald Trump announced on social media that its widely-criticized president, Nicolás Maduro had been captured and with his wife, flown out. This comes after months of intensifying pressure from Washington. In what appears to have been an extraordinary nighttime raid involving an uncertain amount and variety of U.S. forces, multiple explosions struck Caracas. Reports said a special forces helicopter team grabbed Maduro. Venezuela’s vice president, Delcy Rodriguez, demanded proof of his life. Later updates from Washington said Maduro had been arrested and will face trial in a U.S. court.
